DICE's Star Wars Battlefront has opened the floodgates for gamers to sign up for the closed alpha testing of this eagerly anticipated game.

One of the most eagerly awaited Star Wars video games in years, the long awaited reboot of the Star Wars Battlefront franchise has now launched the closed alpha sign-up process. The alpha is only for PC users, and does require an Origin account to join.

You can head over to the Battlefront alpha application site now to apply for one of the limited spots available. Not everybody is being accepted, however, but if you are successful you will receive a confirmation email and see Battlefront appear alongside your other games in your Origin library.

Launching the game is disabled for now but will be available to install from 1st July, ready for alpha testing to begin. As it is an alpha, you can expect bugs and inconsistent performance issues, with the system requirements allegedly being that you need a quad-core CPU, 6 GB RAM, at least an Nvidia GeForce GTX-680 or AMD Radeon HD 7970 with 2 GB RAM, and 64-bit versions of either Windows 7 or 8.

Star Wars Battlefront is due for release on 17th November 2015, but in the mean time here is 5 minutes of gameplay footage from the game:
