About Me
Hey I'm Andy and, as you have probably noticed, I am the Community Manager here at Galactic Basic.
I have been an internet addict since mid 1997 when I started helping my high school test their new internet and email system, and became an administrator on the school network.
I have had a personal homepage online since around that time; starting out on free sites (Angelfire, MSN Homepages, GeoCities) until around 2001 when I bought my first domain name--www.beeurd.co.uk --which was really just used to develop my skills with HTML and CSS (much later of course).
Allow me to backtrack to 2000 for a moment, as this is where Galactic Basic really begins to become an idea of mine...
In early 2000 I got my first "proper" job at a local McDonald's branch. It was good pay for my age, I was apparently good at saving money back then as by autumn I bought my first PC and got some good old dial-up AOL.
Although it possibly wasn't the first I joined, the first forum I can remember being a member on was Westwood Studios' official Command & Conquer: Red alert 2 forums. It was not a pleasant experience as the site was full of hostility; although to be fair I was a bit of a n00b at the time.
Being a big fan of Jurassic Park, I discovered a website called inGenNET and met a bunch of good people there, a few of whom I am still in contact with today. This was where I met both darthraptor52 and Aurelius...
( This is a work in progress... Will continue soon... lol )
